Last episode of Daana Paani by Umera Ahmed.

Asalmu Alaikum reader:), in this blog post I am gonna give you a summary of the last two episodes(As promised) plus an overall review of the novel Daana Paani written by umera Ahmed.

Allah wasayee refuses to kill Motia and says to her husband that it is Satan who is trying to make him lose hope in Allah's mercy. Gamu laughs and says that in a village like Jog Jivan there is no need for Satan as the people are doing his work here.

On the other hand, Murad is still living in London and Mahnoor visits to live with him for a few months and returns disappointed with her son. She tells Tajwar that Murad still loves Motia and she has heard him repeating poems of love for Motia. 

After a few months, a second baby boy is born to Mehnoor, but Murad refuses to come back to Pakistan as he has started practising there. In reality, he doesn't want to see the village again where he lost his first and only love. Murad thought that Motia must be a doctor now and had married some other guy.

There is a drought going on for a year now in jog jivan. Every asks Gamu to pray for the rain and Gamu laughs by saying; for what purpose do you need water, who wants water, y'all want grains. 

In the later part of the story, we come to know that a man founds Gamu's corpse floating in the well, everyone in Jog jivan is dumbfounded. Nobody is sure whether this was a murder, an accident or a suicide. Allah wasayee reacts to his death peacefully without mourning or crying. She sits near Gamu's corpse and recites the kalam of Haq bahu. When Chaudry Shuja offers her some aid she rejects any kind of aid from the Chaudries. On the other hand, Motia isn't aware of her father's death due to her mental state. 

Murad gets the news of Gamu's death from his father. Murad is saddened by the news and decides to pay a visit to his house for condolences. Meanwhile, we come to know that Batool has got 4 plus abortions in the two years of her marriage. She didn't have a child yet and is facing a lot of criticism from her in-laws and husband. When she gets pregnant for the fifth time she tells her mother the whole truth, about tricking motia and decides to ask for Motia's forgiveness. When she finally visits Motia she is shaken to her core, seeing her beautiful friend turned into a skinny figure, with a few coins in her hands. Motia notices her and stares at her without blinking her eyes. Batool breaks down into tears and asks Motia to forgive her. Motia smiles at her without saying a word. Batool says; I never wished this for you Motia, I always thought that you will marry someone else better than Murad, I am sorry my greed ruined your life. Today I confess Motia I cheated you please forgive me”. Batool said everything to Motia about how Tajwar trapped her that night with her aid. Suddenly, Batool felt like someone was standing at the main door when she turned around she was shocked to see Murad there. Murad was jolted by hearing everything. “How can my mother be so cruel,” he thought. 

Murad didn't say a single word to Batool, because his mother, was the real culprit. When he saw Motia after years just like Batool his heart was shaken by seeing his love in this kind of physical and mental state and it was all because of him and his mother. He placed his hand on Motia's hand and tears rolled down his cheeks, Motia was staring at him without blinking her eyes. Meanwhile, Allah wasayee came and after having a short conversation with him (filled with complaints) Murad told her that he is going to Marry Motia soon and left her house. Allahwasaye wasn't able to believe that Murad will marry Motia in this state. Motia was still looking at the door and after years she spoke for the first time, it was; “Murad ”.Allah wasayee was extremely delighted she thanked Allah and kissed Motia.  “Murad,” she said again. Yes, my daughter, he was your Murad, he said he will marry you soon” said Allah wasayee. “Father” said Motia twice. “I wish you were alive Gamu, look our beloved daughter is calling you.” 

As Murad reached Haveli he hugged his father and with tears in his eyes, he narrated the whole thing to Chaudry Shuja. Chaudry Shuja was shaken it was hard to believe that Tajwar could be so awful and harsh. He promised Murad that he will marry him to Motia, so that Allah may forgive their sins. When Tajwar tried to revolt against his decision but Murad silenced her by informing her that the truth has been revealed. On the other hand, Mahnoor was disheartened by the decision of her husband, when she complained about it to Tajwar, she promised her that she will never let it happen. 

Tajwar said to Murad that she was ready to accept Motia as her daughter-in-law and Murad was pleased with her decision and so was her husband. She visited Motia's house with her husband to ask for her hand. When she met Motia she wasn't able to look into her eyes. There was something strange in her eyes. She opened her purse took some cash and gave it to Motia but she closed her hand and Tajwar wasn't able to open her closed fist, Allah wasayee told her to open her hand but Motia didn't. Tajwar gave it to Allahwasayee and left the room. On her way back to the Haveli, Tajwar was feeling insulted, she had a plan to deal with Motia. ( And that was to kill her!)

Tajwar asked Shakura to buy some poison to kill the street dogs, Shakura was terrified to hear that but she ended up buying some poison for Tajwar. When Shakura discussed the matter with Batool, Batool warned her to be careful as she doubted that the poison was meant to kill Motia!

Tajwar and Mehnoor mixed the Poison with the sweets (ladoos) during the night. And the other day she ordered Shakura to take the sweets to Motia's house. Shakura was in doubt, she exchanged the tray of sweets with the other tray of sweets and left for Motia's house. Shakura told the other maid to discard that tray of ladoos and gave her a false reason. The other Maid forgot about the tray and when the Groom(Murad) was ready to leave for Motia's house, Chaudry Shuja said to a servant to bring some sweets and the servant brought the same tray with Poison. Tajwar took a ladoo and gave it to Murad, Murad ate it whole and everyone laughed. Meanwhile, Murad felt irritation in his throat and the other moment he fell from the chair. When Tajwar saw the blood coming out of his mouth she started to Panic and begin to yell and cry, Mehnoor was screaming and saying loudly; “What have you done oh aunt! We Prepared the poisoned sweets with our hands to kill my husband”. Everyone including Chaudry Shuja heard what she said. Shuja attempted to kill Tajwar but the servants stopped him. Within minutes, this news spread all over Jog Jivan,  (how Tajwar killed her son Murad). Villagers ran to inform Motia and Allah wasayee but to their surprise, they were missing. Villagers searched for the two ladies all over the village but were unable to find them. At last, they thought, that Allah wasayee and Motia had committed suicide by jumping into the nearby river.

At the end of the novel, we come to know that Tajwar has gone mad, and is searching for her son all over the Haveli A few years after the incident, all the inhabitants of Jog Jivan leave the village one by one because of the drought!

According to my point of view, the first episodes of the novel were just Amazingly awesome. Umera Ahmed is my favourite fictional writer and I love her work a lot.

 Daana Paani was an emotional rollercoaster, an awesome romantic tragedy with a lot of messages. The novel has a beautiful title with a deep message ( A 100 for that). You as a reader just immerse in Umera's powerful writing and fell in love with the characters immediately. You feel the pain of the two lovers and hate their enemies at the same time. You cry and laugh with Allah wasayee and Gamu and sometimes it will break your heart.

 You gotta accept that no piece of fiction is flawless, so here are some flaws or events in the novel I wasn't satisfied with:

🔴 Motia's meeting with Saieed in the middle of the night near the well was an oops moment. Motia was shown as a strong and intelligent Character in the first episodes and her agreeing to meet Saieed in the middle of the night was indeed a dumb decision. Plus I wasn't satisfied with Murad's reaction to this incident, he trusted his mother blindly, even when he was aware of her hatred for Motia.  ( I mean he should have given   Motia one chance to explain herself:(

🔴 The other thing I wasn't satisfied with was the death of Gamu, according to me a God-fearing man like him didn't deserve an end like that. I mean a natural death would have been better for a character like Gamu. As we don't know clearly whether that was a suicide or not but still 💔

🔴 The last thing I wasn't satisfied with was the ending of the novel I felt a kind of urgency in the last episode ( except for a few beautiful punch lines) every line was missing the touch, that was felt in the first episodes of the novel. For an exceptional writer like Umera Ahmed Mam, it was not difficult to create a different end of part one. 

Overall I am almost satisfied with the first part of the Novel./h3>

 We will see this in the second part of the novel where the journey of Jog Jivan's inhabitants takes them.
